Publish in a newspaper

David "Junior" Hiatt, age 70, of Crab Orchard, Kentucky, passed away on September 26, 2025, surrounded by the love of his family.

David was well known by all who knew him for his love of family, friends, food, fellowship, and fun. An avid gardener, he delighted in sharing the fruits of his labor with neighbors and family. He had a passion for cooking and often passed along recipes and stories from the kitchen of his youth.

Music was the heartbeat of David's life, and he filled his days with song. Many knew him as the "Hillbilly" on WRVK, where his joy for music and people shone through. A natural storyteller, he cherished the friendships he made throughout his life, spoke fondly of growing up as the son of a tenant farmer, and formed connections with friends from coast to coast.

David is survived by his daughters, Bethany (Joe) Berry and Lori (Jon) Croley; his grandchildren Connor, Molly, Addison, and Parker; and his brother George (Debbie) Hiatt. He also leaves behind his nieces Regina, Twila, Shanda, Bobbi, Lisa, and Rachel; and nephews Jimmy, Gary, Russell, Chris, and Michael.

He was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Andrew Gilbert and Marie Hacker Hiatt; his sister, Barbara Jean (Neal) Blanton; his brother, Bobby Gilbert Hiatt; his niece, Paula Sue Chandler; and two grandchildren, Moses and Amelia Berry.

David will be remembered for his generous spirit, his gift for friendship, and the joy he brought to those around him. His stories, songs, and laughter will live on in the hearts of his family and friends.

Funeral Services will be 11:00 AM on Thursday, October 2, 2025 at McKnight Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Dan Gutenson officiating.

Burial will be in the Saylor Cemetery

Visitation will be from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Wednesday, October 1st, 2025 at McKnight Funeral Home Chapel at 147 Main Street, Crab Orchard, Kentucky 40419
