DAVID HILDERBRAND Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Watson-Hunt Funeral Home - Perry on Sep. 30, 2025.
PERRY – Benjamin "David" Hilderbrand, 79, passed away peacefully on Sunday night, September 28, 2025, after an extended illness. Services will be held on Friday, October 3, 2025, in the chapel at Watson-Hunt Funeral Home. The visitation will be held from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m. and the memorial service will begin at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to Paul Anderson Youth Home, 1603 McIntosh Street, Vidalia, GA 30474, or Gentiva Hospice, 105 Jim Mason Court, Suite 100, Warner Robins, GA 31088. David was born on April 19, 1946, to the late Benjamin Forest Hilderbrand and the late Ruby Lee Plott Hilderbrand in Macon. A 1964 graduate of A. R. Willingham High School, he attended Young Harris College and graduated from National Automation College of Macon in 1968. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force Reserves where he evaluated needed medical services for troops during the Vietnam War. He also served in the Georgia National Guard for many years. David had a successful career during the early days of technology, working at the Macon/Bibb County Computer Center and then with Civil Service at Robins Air Force Base in their Information Technology Security Department, from where he retired after twenty years. Upon retirement, David enjoyed owning and operating Hilderbrand's Office Supplies and Hilderbrand's Promo & Printing, visiting local businesses weekly fulfilling their office needs. He was also known to provide "a much-needed break" to their daily tasks, share amateur entertainment through his witty personality, and "gave a hard time" to those he frequently visited, which delighted him. David enjoyed coaching little league baseball at Ochlahatchee and Rozier Park when his son was young. Through the years, he spent a great deal of time searching for and collecting arrowheads and rare coins. His collections are incredible, but to him, the search was even more valuable. He was a Baptist and a member of Cross Point Perry. Left to cherish the memories they made with David are his loving and devoted wife of fifty-three years, Nancy Beatty Hilderbrand; his daughter and son-in-law, Sarah and Chad Sullivan of Perry; his son and daughter-in-law, Ben and Heather Hilderbrand of Rincon; his grandchildren, P. J. Sullivan, Emma Sullivan, Chloe Sullivan, Mia Sullivan, and Gavin Hilderbrand; several cousins; and other extended family members. Condolences for the family may be left in the online guestbook at www.watsonhunt.com. Watson-Hunt Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
