David Lee Hollingsworth, 91, of Evansville, Indiana, passed away on Monday, May 20, 2024 at River Bend Nursing & Rehabilitation surrounded by his family.
David was born in Evansville, Indiana on March 4, 1933 to the late Arthur and Helen (Luecke) Hollingsworth. He graduated from Mater Dei High School in 1951 where he excelled at basketball. After high school, David served in the United States Army during the Korean War. David was an excellent salesman. He owned his own insurance agency, D.L. Hollingsworth and Associates. David also owned Pay Fone Plus, a paid telephone business that later morphed into an automotive air machine business. In his free time, David enjoyed fishing and building model airplanes. David had a deep, strong faith in the Lord. Above all, David adored his family. He was loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He will be deeply missed.
David is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Shirley "Faye" (Simpson) Hollingsworth; children, Michael Hunt, Paula Mitchell (Michael), Teresa Franklin (Dan), David Hollingsworth, Jr. (Janet), Brian Hunt (Pam), Ted Hollingsworth (Lois) and Lisa Cartwright (Farley); sisters, Mary Ann Weis and Dee Dee Seib (Richard); 18 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
David was preceded in death by his son, Jeff Hunt; parents; one sister; three brothers; four infant siblings; and four grandchildren.
A celebration of David's life will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, May 25, 2024 at Browning Funeral Home, 738 Diamond Ave., Evansville, IN 47711 with Rev. John Lefler officiating. For those unable to attend, you may live stream the service by going to https://www.browningfuneral.com/live-stream/newpage. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery.
Friends may visit from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm on Friday, May 24, 2024 at Browning Funeral Home, and again from 9:00 am until service time on Saturday at the funeral home.
