David Honkala Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Baker, Kensinger Funeral Home - Berea on Nov. 3, 2025.
David Christopher Honkala, 39, passed away on November 2, 2025, in Berea, Ohio. Born on March 1, 1986, in Newport News, Virginia, Dave brought light and compassion into the lives of all who knew him.
Dave was a soothing balm in a harsh world. His presence offered comfort and calm to those around him, and his life was marked by an unwavering commitment to helping others. Whether through his countless hours of volunteer work or his everyday acts of kindness, Dave devoted himself to giving back to his community and supporting those in need.
He found joy and peace in nature, often spending time outdoors where he felt most connected to the world around him. Dave loved music and attending live shows with his brother and best friends. These moments were not just pastimes but reflections of the deep bonds he shared with those closest to him.
Dave is survived by his loving wife Sarah; his parents David and Lisa; his brothers Dennis (Laura) and Bryan (Dawn); his sister Marina (beloved late partner Cole), cherished niece Layla, and a large, loving family. His family remembers him as a gentle soul whose generosity and warmth left an indelible mark on their lives.
May David Christopher Honkala's memory bring comfort to all who knew and loved him. The family invites friends and loved ones to join them for a celebration of Dave's life on November 13, 2025, from 02:00 PM to 04:00 PM and 6:00PM-8:00PM at Baker Kensinger Funeral Home 206 Front Street.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting a donation in Dave's name to Food Not Bombs East (Cleveland) - a non-profit organization Dave spent countless hours volunteering with. Food Not Bombs can be reached at [email protected].
