David was the youngest son of his eight siblings born to Elzada Lacy and Oliver Hood on April 15, 1962, in Chicago, Illinois.
David accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior and was baptized by the Mission where he served!
David attended Bryant Elementary School and went on to graduate and attended David G. Farragut Career Academy High School both on the west side of Chicago.
David Hood, affectionately known as "Sleepy Eyes", passed away leaving behind a legacy of love and hope. Through his unwavering faith and unrelenting spirit, he inspired others to trust in God's sovereignty, even in the darkest moments, and to press on with hope and determination, knowing that better days lie ahead.

He was born and raised on the westside (K-Town) of Chicago. David grew up surrounded by family, living with his mother and siblings who were the foundation of his early life and values.
David would begin to forge, build, and make something in the path that would define his work ethic and dedication to others. Throughout his life David held a variety of jobs as a general laborer. Seeking ways to support his loved ones and give back to the community he called home; whether it was through his work or his presence, he made an impact on those around him.
David was more than just a hard worker he was a friend, a brother, a son, and a family man known for his warmth and unmistakable charm. His calm demeanor and soulful eyes earned him the nickname "Sleepy Eyes", a name that stuck with him as a symbol of the quiet strength he carried with grace.
