David W. Howard, 75, of Somerset, Indiana passed away at 11:45 a.m. on Wednesday, October 22, 2025, at his residence. He was born to Paul R. and Muriel (Hayes) Howard on June 13, 1950, in Mishawaka, Indiana.
David was a 1968 graduate of North Manchester High School. He married Mary E. (Wagner) Howard on March 9, 1996. David worked as a Field Technician for Wiese Caterpillar in Ft. Wayne, Indiana. He was a member of the Converse Fire Department for 30 years. He enjoyed motocross and riding his Goldwing motorcycle with his wife, belonging to the Goldwing Road Riders Association. David shot pool in APA leagues and even shot pool in the Nationals in Las Vegas. He was a competition coon hunter, winning the Grand Knight Championship. But most of all, David loved his family.
David is survived by his wife, Mary Howard of Somerset, Indiana; two sons, Paul (Brandi) Howard of Leo, Indiana, and Stacy Howard of South Bend, Indiana; one stepson, John Garza of Indianapolis, Indiana; three stepdaughters, Christina (Bobby) Sherman of Somerset, Indiana, Angela (Kevin) Witt of Converse, Indiana, and Rebecca (Darryl) Wilson of Indianapolis, Indiana; one brother, Jim Howard of South Whitley, Indiana; four sisters, Gwen (Kent) Brower of Ft. Wayne, Indiana, Laurie Marshall of Anderson, Indiana, Janyce (Tim Berg) Howard of Ft. Wayne, Indiana, and Tracey (Mark) Sleighter of South Whitley, Indiana; twelve grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, one grandson, Anthony Lee Howard, and one great-granddaughter, Mylee Garza.
A Celebration of David's Life will be held on Saturday, November 22, 2025, at Somerset Community Building. The family will receive friends from 3:00 p.m. until 5:30 p.m.
