David L Hughes

Dave Hughes, 62, of Fairbanks, Alaska, passed away on May 23, 2023, in Fairbanks. He was born on January 14, 1961, in Fairbanks, to Cy and Roberta Hughes. Dave was a dedicated Journeyman Pipefitter, Foreman, and General Foreman for Local 375 in Fairbanks, Alaska. He was also a Plumbing Inspector for the City of Fairbanks, Alaska. Dave was a very educated individual who was always continuing his education and was exemplary in his line of work, going above and beyond carrying out his responsibilities.

Dave was a Christian and enjoyed worship music. He loved life, loved Alaska, and loved retirement. He was a beautiful person, very kind, and honorable. Dave was a very respectful person who will be greatly missed. He is survived by two sisters, Connie (Gordon) Gallamore, Deanne Hornbuckle, and brother, Chris Hughes. He is also survived by his stepchildren, Brandi Swanson-Cross & Larry Swanson Jr. and several nieces and nephews. Dave was preceded in death by his parents, Cy and Roberta Hughes, and sisters Cindy Becker, Cathy Steiner, and Denise Solien.

Dave loved his dog, Oliver, and enjoyed music, listening to podcasts, boating, sports, exercising, gardening, fishing, skiing, and golf. He loved the sunshine, and his smile would light up any room.

A Celebration of Dave's life will be held on August 5, 2023, from 1:00-5:00 PM at Miguel's, 1235 Airport Way, Fairbanks, Alaska 99701. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Boys and Girls Club of Fairbanks, 645 8th Ave., Fairbanks, Alaska 99701.
