David Allen Jaspers

David Allen Jaspers, 79, of Hot Springs Village, Arkansas passed away June 23, 2024 in Hot Springs, Arkansas. He was born August 5, 1944 in Britton, South Dakota, to Frank Jaspers Jr. and Cora Thornes Jaspers.
Dave graduated Britton High School in 1962. He went on to get his Bachelor of Science at Northern State University in Aberdeen, South Dakota. After graduating from college in 1966, he secured an associate professor position teaching math at the University of Arizona in Tucson. Six weeks after his arrival, he received his draft notice. He chose to join the Air Force to complete the Air Force officer training program and then completed training as a navigator to have a career in flying! He was assigned to a reconnaissance squadron at Mountain Home, Idaho as the second seat officer in RF-4C's. After learning his new airplane, his squadron was assigned to Udorn, Thailand! He and his pilot Pete received the Distinguished Flying Cross, as well as many other medals! He and Pete were very proud to complete 193 combat missions without a mark on their plane! His mother worried, so did his dad, but they were extremely proud! America owes Dave a debt of gratitude!
After completing his military service, he secured a position with Texas Instruments working in Accounting and Finance in Austin, Texas. After a short time in Austin, he transferred to the Dallas area. After obtaining his CPA, he was transferred to one of TI's subsidiaries – Geophysical Services – to become controller for two international assignments in the seismic exploration for oil: in 1978 in Dhahran, Saudi Arabia and 1980 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. He retired from Texas Instruments in Dallas, Texas after 29 years.
Dave met the love of his life Rose Mary Harris in 1979. After many years of convincing, Rose Mary finally agreed to marry him. They were married, May 15, 1987 in Dallas, TX. He was an avid golfer and loved his poker nights with the guys. Dave was a great man and was loved by everyone who knew him. He never met a stranger, no matter where you were he could always find a good conversation.
He was preceded in death by his father, Frank Jaspers; mother, Cora Thornes; sister, Marlene Kohlhaas and nephew; Bryan Jaspers.
He is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Rose Mary of the home; son Phil Cobb and wife Shelley of Whitesboro, TX; grandson Cayden Cobb and granddaughter Cortlyn Cobb both of Whitesboro, TX and great granddaughter Jolene Adams. He is also survived by one brother Donald Jaspers and wife Patsy of Rathdrum, Idaho, nieces Jeanne, Coleen, Nancy, and Deb; nephew Paul; grandnephews Luke, Bryan, Brandon, Scott, and Jacob.
A graveside celebration of Dave's life will be at the Walters Cemetery, in Walters, OK, Saturday, July 13th at 11:30am, under the direction of Hart Wyatt Funeral Home of Walters.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The American Diabetes Association.
