David Lee Johnson, born on December 18, 1942, in Overton, Texas, passed away on January 10, 2026, in Longview, Texas. David lived a life characterized by resilience, love, and commitment to his family and country. He proudly served in the Army, demonstrating his dedication to protecting the values he held dear.
David is remembered fondly by his companion of 44 years, Bobbie Wallace, who stood by him through thick and thin. He is survived by two loving daughters, Cindy Lee Hoffman and Christi Ogburn, who carry forward his legacy. He also leaves behind his brother Michael Johnson, as well as sisters Terri Dowd and Nancy McConnell. David was a cherished grandfather to four grandchildren, who were a source of immense joy in his life.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Earl Asberry and Mamie Louise Johnson, whose memories live on through the stories and traditions he shared with his family.
A graveside service will be held in his honor at Union Grove Cemetery in Gladewater, Texas, on January 15, 2026, beginning at 1:00 PM. The service will serve as a moment to celebrate David's life and the impact he made on those around him. He will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
