David Mark Jordan
November 28, 1947 - December 15, 2022
David Mark Jordan passed away Thursday evening, December 15, 2022, at his home in Butte, surrounded by family and friends, following a long battle with Pancreatic Cancer. He was born in Butte Friday, November 28, 1947, to Mark and Phyllis (Osterman) Jordan and attended Butte schools, graduating from Butte High School.
Dave joined the United States Navy right after high school and served a twenty-two year career where he traveled the world and served in both the Vietnam War as well as the first Gulf War. One of his proudest moments during his service was getting to drive the aircraft carrier U.S.S. Enterprise through the Suez Canal. He retired as a Master Chief and returned home to Butte, where he worked at MHD on computer systems.
He married Robin Taylor on August 2, 1998, in Gold Hill Lutheran Church.
After their marriage, Dave taught skiing at Discovery Ski Area for more than 20 years. He delighted in teaching hundreds of students, who called him "Doctor Dave."
He and Robin built and opened Julian's Piano Bar and later owned and operated the Butte Weekly.
One of Dave's proudest efforts was volunteering during Butte's "Camp Husky Rescue," where he adopted one of the pups, Bucky, who was his beloved and faithful companion on many outdoor adventures until Bucky's death in 2020.
Dave was a model train buff who collected many Lionel trains and loved to build railroad layouts for his friends' children.
He and his wife enjoyed camping, taking their dogs for walks in the great outdoors, sailing, and working on and taking road trips in the family's 1962 Chevy Impala. Dave loved music and had a beautiful singing voice and played harmonica and drums. He and Robin played together in local bands White Folks on Vacation and Jamboni.
For many years, Dave was active in the Imperial Sovereign Court of Montana (ISCSM) and performed in many drag shows as "Dustee St. John Love." He was the first Miss Gay Butte and served as Princess 10 of the ISCSM as well as helping organize many local events for Butte's LGBTQ community, including Butte Pride events.
He is survived by his wife, Robin Jordan of Butte; brother and sister-in-law: Richard and Melody Jordan of Seward, Alaska; niece, Desiree and Jesse Groom and their daughter, Adell. Also surviving is his mother-in-law, Fay Taylor of Butte.
Cremation has taken place. Memorial services will be conducted next spring and will be announced. Memorials may be made to the donor's charity of choice. Express condolences at www.wayrynen-richards.com.
