David was born on May 18th, 1947 to Dorothy and David Karbach in Bisbee, Arizona and grew up in San Antonio, Texas alongside his two siblings, Diane and Dennis.

David graduated from Robert E. Lee High School in San Antonio in 1965, where he was in the top 5% of his class, a member of National Honor Society and Future Scientists of America, and also played trumpet in the marching band. He received an Associates degree in Arts from Schreiner Institute before moving to Austin, Texas where he graduated with a Bachelors of Science in Electrical Engineering from The University of Texas at Austin in 1970 and started his first job at a telephone company in San Angelo, Texas. In 1980, he began his three-decades long career at Arabian American Oil Company (ARAMCO) in Saudi Arabia.

David and his wife, Ishrat, were introduced by her brother during a trip to Karachi, Pakistan, where he knew instantly he wanted to marry her. They got married on April 9th, 1982 and started their family in Abqaiq, Saudi Arabia in 1983 which grew to include five beautiful daughters. After an almost 30 year career at ARAMCO, David and his family moved back to San Antonio, Texas.

David was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather, always encouraging his daughters in their pursuit of higher education, and also coached them in swimming. He was a devout Muslim and lived his life by the teachings of Islam. A generous and selfless man, David was a true friend who was always ready to help anyone at a moment’s notice, and left an immeasurable, meaningful impact on many people. In addition to his family, he loved music, classic cars and technology.

David is survived by his wife, Ishrat, five daughters, Sarah, Sophia, Sonya, Michelle and Sasha, and his nine grandchildren.
