David Karwosky Obituary

David Karwosky
March 15, 1944 - February 20, 2025
After a short bout with cancer, Dave Karwosky is now at peace. He was surrounded by his loved ones as he passed away at age 80.
To know Dave was to know a loving husband, father, and brother. He was a bull rider, a cowboy, a veteran, an animal lover, and a man of ingenuity. Dave made a name for himself wherever he went.
Growing up in Southfield Village, he was the oldest of three boys. He worked in his father's laundromat after school, and became the man of the house at age 17, when his father passed away. He was a bit of a rascal and enjoyed fishing under the red bridge, diving off the back docks of Hoffman Fuel, playing basketball at the YMCA, and biking across town to ride horses with his friend, Billy Pearson.
When Dave was older, he served in Korea. After his time in the military, he worked in construction during the week and toured in rodeos on the weekends. That is how he met the love of his life, Laura. A few years later, they had a son, Jeffrey.
Dave never had a place of his own growing up, but through determination and hard work, he made a home for his family with a barn and property for horses. Once he retired, his favorite thing to do was go out on his property and feed the birds, squirrels, deer, and all other forms of wildlife. When indoors, he could be found sitting in his comfy chair, reading the latest lawyer crime book, next to his wood burning stove. Dave lived by two mottoes: "Family comes first" and "use common sense".
He is survived by his wife, Laura, son, Jeffrey, and brother, Brian (Debbie). He was predeceased by his brother, Jack. Honoring Dave's wishes, there will not be a funeral, but rather a celebration of life to be announced later. Laura and Jeffrey, I was saddened to hear of Dave's passing. Although its been many years, Dave's picture looked just like I would have imagined, and made me smile. He was a great guy- who my dad, brother and I had the pleasure of hanging out and riding together, at the Red Barn. He often joked with us and made us laugh. Rest in Peace Cowboy. May you both find peace from your memories.

Dear Laura and Jeffrey, I am so very sorry to hear this. Dave was a wonderful, caring person. I have fond memories from the 70's when all the barn rats would go with him to help load hay. He even let me ride his horse Yellow Cow. That was truly an honor. Until we meet again! God Bless!
