Dr. David Kefauver

Born: January 27, 1946 | Died: December 2, 2025

Dr. David Kefauver, Veterinarian, Community Leader, devout Christian and beloved husband, father, grandfather and brother died at home on Dec. 2.

Son of Tennessee Senator Estes and Nancy Kefauver, he grew up in Washington D.C with summers in Tennessee. After Veterinary School, he began his practice in Madisonville Tennessee. He and his wife, Mary (Dalness) and their four children settled in the old family home.

For 30 years he served farmers and families in Monroe County caring for pets and livestock.

As a community leader he co-founded the Madisonville Boys and Girls Club, taught Sunday School at First United Methodist Church, and coached sports.

He generously donated his Veterinary Clinic to the Monroe County Animal Shelter and then donated his land to build the new Eastbourne Animal Shelter.

He was passionate about his family, faith and community. He is survived by his wife Mary, children Matthew (Tracy), Josh (Kris),Carey, Adam (Ferran) and beloved grandchildren Ethan, Noah, Jak, Grover, Liza.

Family will have casual receiving of friends at First United Methodist Church in Madisonville on Saturday, December 6 from 1pm to 3pm, with a private burial following.
