L. David Kellett of Bloomfield Hills, Michigan passed away on August 5th, 2025 at his residence. For over sixty-six years, Dave was the loving husband of his wife Janet, who predeceased him. Father of Thomas (Lesley) Kellett of Birmingham, David (Kristina) Kellett of Grosse Pointe, and MaryClare Kellett of San Francisco, California. Dave is survived by eight grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. Born in Detroit on December 31st 1932 to Charles and Juliette Kellett, Dave graduated from De LaSalle high school and went on to get a civil engineering degree from the University of Detroit. Right after high school Dave built his first home starting his career as a master builder. He founded his own firm Kellett Construction Company 47 years ago. He and the company were honored with various local and national homebuilder awards, and he was proud to be a member of the southeastern Michigan builders association, serving one year as chairman. After over 55 years in the construction industry, Dave began a well deserved retirement in his late 70's. Dave was a parishioner of St. Thomas More Catholic Church, Troy. Dave was an active member of Stonycroft Hills Club and a served as a Commissioner and Mayor of Bloomfield Hills. Dave was an avid golfer – especially with the 'Crazy Eight's' golf group – and enjoyed a wide variety of outdoor hobbies. He was a devoted father and grandfather who loved passing on his passion for the outdoors to his family – he will be truly missed. A memorial mass will be held at 11:00 AM, Monday August 11, at St. Thomas More Church, 4580 N. Adams Rd, Troy. Family will greet guests at 10:30 AM at the church. Visiting hours have also been arranged for Sunday, August 10 from 1:00 – 5:00PM at A.J. Desmond & Sons (Vasu, Rodgers and Connell Chapel), 32515 Woodward, Royal Oak.
