David Kennison Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Caruth Village Funeral Home on Feb. 1, 2023.
David J. Kennison, 63, of Hot Springs Village, Arkansas passed away peacefully at home on January 27, 2023. He was born August 21, 1959 in Davenport, IA, to Donald Kennison and Jacquelyn Kennison.
Dave was preceded in death by his parents; parents-in-law Al and Doris Leinweber; and brother-in-law Jim Luke.
Survivors include his wife Mary Kennison; daughter Joanna Thompson (Terry); daughter Amie Stoddard (James); daughter Michelle Kennison; five grandchildren; three siblings and their spouses; 10 brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; and 25 nieces and nephews, their spouses and their children.
When he was five-years-old Dave's family moved to Torrance, California. Dave met his wife, Mary, on her front porch in Torrance. They raised their three daughters in Bakersfield, California. Dave was a talented handyman and spent most of his career working for Bulldog Alarm Company in Southern California.
Dave enjoyed working on and fixing houses. His favorite project was the Baker Street house, a 1929 cottage that he restored and brought back to life. The family later moved to Oregon where he spent nine years living and working, and restoring a 100-year-old farm house that he called 'the shack by the side of the road'.
In 2018 Dave and Mary moved to Hot Springs Village for what they called 'semi-retirement'. Dave worked two days a week at Sam's Club in Hot Springs passing out food samples, a job that he loved. Dave excelled at Village Life and enjoyed fishing, gardening, and barbecuing on his deck overlooking the lake.
A celebration of David's life will be 10:00 AM Wednesday, February 8, at Caruth Village Funeral Home with Andrew Gonzalez officiating.
