David King Obituary
David Andrew King lost his lengthy battle with cancer and went to his eternal home on the evening of November 1st, 2023 at the young age of 52. Dave was a very loving husband, father, son, brother, uncle, and friend. He will be deeply missed by anyone whose life he touched.
Dave was born on November 16th, 1970, in Columbus, OH to Robert King and Joanie Dahlen. He moved to Colorado and grew up in Paonia, graduating from Paonia High School in 1989. He met his forever love, Tawnya Lewellen, while attending Mesa State College in Grand Junction in 1992. They moved to Longmont in 1993 and married in May 1996. In April 2000, they welcomed their daughter, Kaitlin and moved back to Grand Junction where Dave found his calling with Home Depot and began his "orange" career. They then welcomed their son, Nicholas, in September of 2005 and relocated to Durango, eventually making it back to Grand Junction. In 2012, Dave was promoted to store manager of the Sheridan, WY Home Depot where they spent the next 5 years. In January of 2018, Dave was promoted to District Execution Manager.
In March 2018, Dave was diagnosed with Stage IV Cancer that had spread throughout his body by the time it was found. The family then moved to Severance, CO where Dave began his 5 1/2-year battle with cancer and started his newly appointed position with Home Depot. He fought with everything he had and never let this horrible disease bring him down. He was an inspiration to everyone who had the privilege enough to know him. He was devoted to God, and served as Vice president of Abiding Love Lutheran Church.
Dave is survived by his wife, Tawnya; his children, Kaitlin Bartels (Adam) and Nicholas; mother, Joanie Dahlen; father, Robert King; his sister, Lori Clark; parent-in-laws, Bill and Lisa Lewellen and Bobbie and Rich Redding; his brothers- and sister-in-law, Kevin (Melissa) and GW (Cristian) Lewellen, Wayne Clark (Sissy), Tiffany Estes (Dustin); nephews, Josh (Crystal), Nick, Rylin, and Trennan; and nieces, Kaisley, Brielle, and Kyla. Dave was also anticipating the arrival of his first grandbaby boy in December.
A service will be held at Abiding Love Lutheran Church (). Pastor Kevin Klug will officiate. Cremation is being handled by Viegut Funeral Home in Loveland.

David was the manager of the Home Depot store in Sheridan, where I worked for a while. His leadership, character, and humor are what I will always remember of this good man. Jack Livingston

What an incredible loss to alot of people. I went to school with David in Paonia off and on since I move and came back several different times . I can't say I was in his closest circle of friends , we shared the same birthday 11/16/1970 so as very young kids we always brought goodies to school to share . I can say whether I was just moving back or on the occassins we did hang out he always he treated me like I was a close friend. The last time I saw David was in Home Depot in Grand Junction CO many years ago, some guy was hollering my name from the drive through as I was walking in and it was David all excited to say hi after about 25 years I've only talked or texted by phone since then and knew he was sick these last few years but he was always so positive that you never would have known if he hadn't told you. Many prayers condoleces to his family and friends that had to say goodbye to David because he was a a genuine and great individual.

Dave always made a point to check in with me to say hello. I never worked directly for him, but he made me feel like I was a part of his team. He had a lot of responsibilities in his leadership roles, but he showed me that taking time for people is most important. He was always so positive and loving. He always spoke so lovingly of his family. I´ll never forget the way he made me feel valued. Well done my friend.
