David Kistner Obituary

Publish in a newspaper

David J Kistner, of Willow Grove, PA passed away on Tuesday,November 11th, 2025. Son of Edward C Kistner and Mary-Louise Kistner, he was a devoted husband to Tamra and loving father to his sons Nathan and Tim.

Dave worked for many years as a geologist on projects that assessed and remediated contaminated groundwater sites in Pennsylvania and the greater mid-Atlantic region. He was dedicated and passionate about his work and took pride in his role in making the environment in Pennsylvania cleaner and safer.

Dave was an avid history buff whose memory and knowledge of American history was second to none. He also loved the outdoors, and especially enjoyed hiking, taking long walks and bike rides, but often taking time to study the geology along the way. He enjoyed experiencing nature and history together, traveling to a variety of historic sites over the years and carefully consulting all pertinent maps whenever possible. He was a lover of music and an active member of the church choir and later Philomusica.

Dave found many opportunities to volunteer over the years, whether it was coaching township soccer or participating at theWillow Grove United Methodist Church. He served the church and community in a variety of different capacities: as a Sunday school teacher, a member of the board and various committees, participating in service trips to Appalachia, and coaching thenlater running the church's indoor soccer league that was open to children across the township.

He was a man who communicated with and acted towards others with thoughtful intention, and who selflessly gave his time and energy to causes he thought were important.

While quiet by nature, he was not afraid to speak loudly with his actions and take a firm stand for what he believed was right.

He will always be remembered for his steady guidance, his never-ending willingness to listen and his ability to focus on the things that mattered. His memory will live on in the lives he touched and the acts of love and service that he performed.

Dave is survived by his wife of 36 years, Tamra, his sons Tim and Nathan, his sisters Emily, Christina, and Diane, his brother Ed, and many others in his extended family. He is predeceased by his sister Mary-Louise Kistner Stone.

A funeral service will be held at Willow Grove United Methodist Church on Saturday 11/22/25 at 10 AM. Visitation will be held at the church from 9-10 AM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Willow Grove Baptist Church food pantry or any charity which addresses food insecurity orhomelessness, both causes that he cared deeply about.
