David Allan Klicke was born Sept. 2, 1946, in Benson, MN, to Gladys Evelyn (Johnson) Kliche and William Kliche. He passed away on June 29, 2023, at Adventist Medical Center in Portland, OR, after succumbing to complications from surgery. Dave was the oldest of three children. He was raised in Benson, graduating from Benson High School in 1965. After graduation he enlisted into the US Navy, serving for six years and completing two tours in the Vietnam War. After his time in the military, he moved to the Pacific Northwest, where he met and married Carol Presnell. They had three children together and later divorced. Dave then met the love of his life, Mary, in 1988, they were married in 1990. Dave worked for over 25 years as a mechanic/plumber at Northwest Packing. When he was ready for a slower pace, he finished his working career as a maintenance engineer at Riverview Abbey before retiring. He was respected and appreciated for being a hard worker, for his vast knowledge and dependability. While quiet in nature, Dave was a genuine friend who would never hesitate to help, and was always quick to share a smile and laugh. Dave was a lover of sports. He enjoyed watching and cheering on the Minnesota Vikings, the Baltimore Ravens, and the Minnesota Twins to name a few of his favorite teams. He enjoyed needlepoint, and took great pride in his work, especially the custom Christmas stockings he made for each of his children and their families. He also found great joy in watching his grandchildren grow, often spoiling them with cookies when their parents were not looking. Dave was preceded in death by his parents, Gladys and William; and sister Marie. Dave is survived by his wife of 33 years, Mary; his brother, Dennis Kliche; his children, Ward (Leona) Klicke, William Klicke, Nathan Klicke, D.
