David W. Kratzke, age 73, Vergas, MN area resident passed away Thursday, January 23, 2025 peacefully at his home.
Dave was born June 8, 1951 in Perham, MN to Verna and Clarence Kratzke. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul's Lutheran Church - Loon Lake. Dave grew up in rural Vergas where he attended Pelican Rapids School before transferring to and graduating from Perham High School in 1969. He went on to join the National Guard for six years where he qualified as Sharpshooter. He received a diploma in Auto Mechanics from Moorhead Area Technical Institute in 1971.
Dave enjoyed being an avid outdoorsman; fishing, hunting, and taking meticulous care of his lawn care. He was also skilled in woodworking and taxidermy. He was a marine engine mechanic in Nantucket, MA before moving back to Minnesota to be near family. After spending 10 wonderful years together, Dave was united in marriage to Robin (Newton) on December 21, 2018 in Perham, MN.
He is survived by his wife, Robin Kratzke; brother, Jerry (Nellie) Kratzke; son, Trevor Kratzke (Jen) of Alexandria, MN; stepsons, Clifford (Sara) Schultz of Perham, MN, and Clayton (Erin) Schultz of Frazee, MN; stepdaughters, Jen Bucholz of Perham, MN, Jessica (Tim) Kerekes of Frazee, MN, and Jackie (Clint) Ortner of Dent, MN; 12 grandchildren, and ex-wife, Marsha Swiegert.
Preceding Dave in death were his parents; previous wife, Sandra Kratzke; and a granddaughter, Shalie Lipp.
A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 30th, 2025 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church - Loon Lake in Vergas with a lunch to follow.
