David J. LaFond, age 69, of Hudson, NH and former longtime Lowell resident, passed away peacefully at St. Joseph's Hospital, NH on Wednesday, December 11, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of Dianne T. (Matte) (Pierson) LaFond.
He was the son of the late Roland A. and Beatrice F. (St. Onge) LaFond.
He was born and raised and educated in Lowell, MA, and was a proud member of his community throughout his life. A dedicated family man, David enjoyed a fulfilling career working with Lowell Gas, Colonial Gas, Keyspan, and retired from National Grid, where he earned the respect of colleagues and friends alike.
David had a wide array of interests and hobbies. He was an avid designer, known for his skill in woodworking and stained-glass art. His passion for creating was matched only by his love for wildlife and his trips to Pennsylvania and camping at Old Orchard Beach.
David's devotion to his community was evident in his role as President of the Fox Hollow Homeowners Association (HOA), where he worked tirelessly to improve the lives of those around him.
Family was everything to David. He was incredibly proud of his children and loved nothing more than sharing stories about them. The greatest joy of his life was his grandchildren and watching their sporting events, where his enthusiasm and support were unmistakable. Whether at a family gathering or over a cup of coffee, David found comfort and happiness in spending time with his loved ones.
David was also an enthusiast of dining out but cherished his daily ritual of visiting Dunkin' Donuts, where he could enjoy an iced coffee and chat with friends and neighbors.
In addition to his loving wife, David is survived by his children; Amie (LaFond) Burba and husband Eric of Pepperell, MA; Erica (Pierson) Marsh and husband Adam of Medford, MA; and JR (Dennis Pierson, Jr). of Hudson, NH. He was a proud grandfather to Joel, Jenna, Jarrett, Zachary, and Kylie. In addition, David is survived by his siblings, Ronald LaFond of Clearwater, FL, and wife Deborah, and Denise (LaFond) Andrews and husband Ralph of Northwood, NH. His godson, Jason Andrews, along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends, also survive him.
David will be remembered for his love of family, his generosity of spirit, and the joy he brought to everyone who knew him. He leaves a lasting legacy of kindness, dedication, and deep love for his family and friends.
Predeceased by his K9 companion Daytona and his Ex-wife Kathleen (Brooking) Boyson.
Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, December 17, 2024, from 4pm to 7pm at the DRACUT FUNERAL HOME, 2159 Lakeview Ave., DRACUT. His funeral service will be held on Wednesday, December 18, 2024, at 10am in the Funeral Home. Interment will follow in St Joseph's Cemetery, CHELMSFORD.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in David's memory to Newhouse Wildlife Rescue, PO Box 596, Chelmsford, MA 01824 or online, https://newhousewildliferescue.org/

To Dianne and to Dave´s entire family my sincere and heartfelt sympathy. We have known each other for over 50 years. He was a good man. I´m glad that we were texting lately and it was good keeping in touch with him. May he rest in peace.

My deepest condolences to the entire Lafond family on Dave´s passing. I was blessed to have worked alongside Dave for so many years. He was a great colleague and a better person. I will always remember his infectious laugh and willingness to help anyone in need. Another great "gas man" gone too soon. Rest in peace Dave
