David L. Laughlin

David L. Laughlin, of Hookstown, Pennsylvania, passed away Saturday, December 14th, with his daughters by his side after a long and hard-fought battle with cancer.
Born on February 16th, 1957, in East Liverpool, Ohio, David was the eldest son of the late Robert and Florence DiVittis Laughlin. David's memory will be carried on by his and DeAnna Peake's daughters Erin (& husband Andrew) Fousek of Ohio and Allyn (& husband Bryan) Howard of Florida. David is also survived by his siblings, brother Wayne (& wife Carla) Laughlin and sister Barbara (& late husband David) Cooper. Second only to his role as a father, David thrived as the patient and loving grandfather of his four grandsons, Derek, Griffin, Mitchel, and Colin.
David was a graduate of the Southside High School's class of 1975. While in high school, he could often be found playing the saxophone with the band or, just after graduation, tacking up his favorite barrel horse in preparation for his next rodeo. David's competitive spirit and attention to detail only continued to grow, most evident by the number of fish he could pull in the boat after an early morning on the lake and the countless tractor-pulling trophies that could be found decorating his home.
David was a kind and humble soul who others could best describe as simply a "good man". Hardworking and loyal, Dave spent over 30 years refining his craft as a tool and die maker for Matthews International and later Dynamic Dies Inc.
Stoic and selfless, David was loved by all who knew him and will be mourned by his family and many whose lives were enriched by his friendship in his hometown and community.
Arner Funeral Chapel (607 Carolina Ave., Chester, WV) will arrange an intimate graveside burial at Mill Creek Hill Cemetery in Hookstown on Saturday, December 21st. Family and friends are invited to the Hancock County Senior Center (647 Gas Valley Road, New Cumberland, WV) at 1:00 p.m. to share memories, comfort one another, and honor a life well lived.
Donations can be made in David's memory to the American Cancer Society instead of flowers.
