David Bryon Lerud passed away on Sunday, January 18th at home with his family by his side.
Dave was born on July 10, 1953, in Fargo, North Dakota, to Betty (Adamson) and Lester Lerud. He grew up on a farm in Gardner, ND where he learned the value of hard work and perseverance. He was active in sports throughout his youth, playing football and basketball and running track. He graduated from Hendrum High School and later earned a degree in Environmental Systems and Plumbing from the North Dakota School of Science in Wahpeton.
Dave started out as a farmer and later took over Dakota Tours following his mother Betty's retirement. He went on to work with Games to Go before becoming the owner and operator of Games Galore. After retiring, he continued to stay active through his work at O'Reilly Auto Parts.
Dave was the proud father of three daughters and the loving grandfather of eight grandchildren. He shared a rich and active life with his partner, Tracy Powell. Dave enjoyed daily trips to the YMCA, and together he and Tracy spent time e-bike riding and enjoying life with their beloved dog, Melvin.
A devoted sports fan, Dave enthusiastically supported the NDSU Bison, Wisconsin Badgers, Minnesota Twins, and Minnesota Vikings. He lived an active lifestyle and was known for his humor, dedication to family, and enjoyment of life.
Dave was preceded in death by his parents, Lester and Betty Lerud; his brother, James Lerud; and his brother-in-law, Harlan Hamstad.
He is survived by his life partner, Tracy Powell; his daughters, Marie Jackson (David), Charlotte, NC; Lisa Wurth, Madison, WI; and Rita Rademacher (Aaron), Minneapolis, MN; his eight grandchildren Avery, David, Ella, Kira, Kalaya, Kolton, Tilly, and Kayden; his sister, Janice Hamstad; his niece, Brenda Fiddle; and his nephew, Greg Hamstad.
Dave will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who knew and loved him.
Memorial Service: 1:00pm, Friday, January 23, 2026 at Hanson-Runsvold Funeral Home, Fargo, ND. The service will be livestreamed on the funeral home website.
Burial: Nora Lutheran Church Cemetery, Gardner, ND.
