David Lewis, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and a prominent figure in the world of automotive craftsmanship, passed away on September 12, 2023, at the age of 74. He was born in
Jackson, Michigan, and his journey through life was marked by remarkable achievements, deep love, and unwavering dedication.
In his early years, David embarked on a life-changing move to
Huntington Beach, California, where he found not only a new home but also a lifelong partner. It was in this vibrant coastal community that he crossed paths with the love of his life, Ms. Sally Miller. Their love story blossomed, culminating in a beautiful union on July 20, 1968, in
Westminster, California. Throughout their 55 years of marriage, David and Sally shared an unbreakable bond, weathering life's challenges and celebrating its joys together.
David was preceded in death by his parents, Romie Sylvester Lewis, and Ellen (Harvey) Lewis, as well as three sisters, Frankie May Warren, Shelby Lewis, and Jessie Damerval, and one brother, Ronnie Lewis.
He is survived by his loving wife, Sally (Miller) Lewis, and their four devoted sons and their spouses: David Lewis and Shelli of
Broken Arrow, OK, Brian Lewis and Courtney of Wagoner, OK, Matthew Lewis and Jessica of Coweta, OK, and Brandon Lewis and Jessica of Wagoner, OK. He is also survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Arvil and Stacey Lewis of Coweta, OK, along with a host of cherished grandchildren and step-grandchildren: Ashley Brunette; Austin, Tate, Drew, Kurt, Ariana, Romie, Brayden, Brantley, and Brody Lewis; Erica, Lauren, Karlee, Jake, Hayley, and Sydni. David's legacy extends further through his great-grandchildren: Emery and Owen Brunette, Jacob, Ariel, Kinsley and Shane Jacob Lewis, who will carry his memory forward with love.
David was not just a loving family man; he was a visionary entrepreneur who left an indelible mark in the automotive industry. He founded A-1 Body Shop in
Fresno, CA, and later moved the business to Tulsa, OK, in 1980. His work ethic was second to none, and his dedication to his craft was a testament to his character. David Lewis was a man who worked tirelessly, leaving an enduring legacy as an innovator, drag racer, and builder of custom hotrods.
He was an excellent father, provider, teacher, lover, fighter, and protector of his children and family. His passion, drive, and unwavering commitment to excellence inspired all who had the privilege of knowing him. David's dedication to hard work and innovation instilled a strong work ethic in his children, ensuring that his values would continue to thrive in the generations that follow.
