It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of David Guy Liedike. David passed away on July 5, 2025, in his new town of New Port Richey, Florida, after his battle with cancer. He was surrounded by family and friends.
David was born on February 10, 1947, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, to David and Mary Liedike. He moved to Chula Vista, California at an early age and graduated from Chula Vista High. David met his true love and life partner, Kathleen Gault, in Chula Vista, California, and they married on October 26, 1968, where they were blessed with 56 years of marriage.
David entered the U.S. Navy and served until sustaining an injury and honorably discharged. He became a welder at Rohr Aircraft/Industries in Chula Vista, California, he transitioned as a welder to Senior Aerospace Ketema in El Cajon, California, where he retired.
During retirement, David spent his days with his wife Kathy, where they would go on trips with their friends, eat meals at his favorite restaurants, and enjoy slot machines at nearby casinos and in Las Vegas. He was also known for watching Fox New daily and countless hours of YouTube and surfing the internet on his cellphone like a teenager. From an early age, David loved to listen to music with his all-time favorite being Waylon Jennings. David loved the game of golf, and he cherished spending time with his friends on the golf course (daily at some points), and after each round, he and his friends would head to the clubhouse to pay up on their bets.
David is survived by his wife Kathy Liedike of New Port Richey, Florida; son and daughter-in-law Chris and Rochelle Liedike of Anchorage, Alaska; daughter and son-in-law Debra and Russell Horsey of Lakeland, Florida; son and daughter-in-law David and Angie Liedike of Sheridan, Oregon; his eight grandchildren and their significant others Jerrick Liedike, Jordyn Liedike, Savannah Pimental, Jody and Nicole Pimental, Anthony Pimental, Jacob, Ryder and Arianna Liedike, and great-granddaughter Olivia Pimental. He is also survived by his brother and sister-in-law Clark and Paula Liedike, brother and sister-in-law Mike and Kay Liedike, sister and brother-in-law Martha and Joe Acquafredda, sister Tina Davenport, brother and sister-in-law Tim and Zana Liedike, and sister-in-law Debbie and brother-in-law Frank Scerbo.
Though David is no longer with us in body, his spirit endures in the countless memories and stories we now cherish. Let us recall with gratitude the laughter, the comfort, and the wisdom he brought into our lives. And let us honor his memory by living our own lives with the compassion, generosity, and integrity that defined David’s days. In loving memory, we say goodbye—for now—to a devoted family member, a loyal friend, and a cherished soul. Rest in peace David, you will be forever remembered and forever loved.
