Born with a servant’s heart and a craftsman’s hands, David devoted more than 50 years to his work as a barber at David’s Mug and Brush, located inside the historic Echo Hotel in Edinburg. His barbershop became a gathering place for generations, a spot where people came not only for a haircut, but for conversation, laughter, and the steady presence of a man who treated everyone with dignity. His commitment to his community was recognized on September 19, 2000, when the City of Edinburg honored him with David Lopez Day, a testament to the impact he made on the city he loved.
Before building his life and legacy in Edinburg, David proudly served his country as a veteran, carrying with him the discipline, humility, and sense of duty that would define his life’s work.
David Lopez leaves behind a legacy of service, integrity, and love, one that will continue to live on in the family he cherished and the community he faithfully served. His presence will be deeply missed, but his memory will remain a blessing to all who knew him.
