Colonel David J. Mahlik U.S.A. Retired, age 82, peacefully passed away on April 11, 2023, at his home surrounded by the love of his family. He was born on May 26, 1940, to parents, John and Frances Mahlik and was raised in Denmark, WI. David graduated from Denmark High School in 1958 and went on to graduate from St. Norbert's College. He married his high school sweetheart, Denise Suemnick, in 1962, and they were married 62 years. David served 28 years in the U.S. Army where he served tours in Vietnam, Korea, Germany, and the United States. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, road tripping and was a lifelong fan of the Green Bay Packers.
David is survived by his loving wife, Denise Mahlik; children, David J. (Theresa) Mahlik Jr., Annie Mahlik (Matthew), Katie (Emmett III) Owenby and Jenny Strong; grandchildren, Calvin and Alex Mahlik, Emmett IV and Abbey Owenby, and Brayden Strong; brother, John (Jill) Mahlik; brother-in-law, David (Karen) Suemnick; and several nieces, nephews, and friends.
David was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Darrell (Helen) Mahlik; and mother and father-in-law, Alex and Marguerite Suemnick.
Visitation will be held on May 2 from 11:30 – 12:30 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Dover with a funeral mass to begin at 12:30. Burial and full military honors will immediately follow at the Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
