SSG David Martinez Sr.

Staff Sergeant David Martinez, Sr., a resident of Coppell, Texas, passed away on December 7, 2013. He was born on April 5, 1952 in Tyler, Texas to Pedro and Annareda Martinez. SSG Martinez served honorably for 15 years in the United States Army. His decorations include: Army Achievement Medal, Army Commendation Medal and the National Defense Service Medal with 1 Bronze Star. David earned an Associate's Degree from El Paso Community College while stationed at Fort Bliss. He attended MacArthur Blvd. Baptist Church and participated every Friday evening in a home based Bible Study. David loved God and faithfully read his Bible every day. He is preceded in death by his parents, Pedro and Annareda Martinez; brothers, Ronald Martinez and sisters, Esmerelda Cermenio and Ramona Martinez. Those left with enduring memories are his wife, Priscilla Martinez; daughters, Anna Donata Davis and husband Jack, Nadia Briggs and husband Napoleon, Jacqueline Martinez and husband Jeff; son, David Martinez, Jr.; daughter, Ruby Martinez – and their mother, Rosario Martinez; step-daughter, Hannah Hall; grandchildren, Kevin, Pedro, Nadia, Teton, Delilah, Giancarlo and Caitlan Martinez; brothers and sisters, Pedro Martinez, Gloria Flores, Albert Martinez, Sandra Gonzalez, Maria Ortega, Deborah Salazar, Diane Mellick, Amelia Esparza and Caroline Alvarado. A Celebration of David's Life will be held on Friday, December 13, 2013 at 1:00 P.M. at Restland Coppell Chapel – 400 S. Freeport Parkway; Coppell, Texas 75019. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made for the Martinez Family during the Memorial Service at the funeral home.
