David Preston Massie

David, Tita and Family. Just learned of David's passing and am so very sorry. I remember David when your family was called to First Presbyterian Church in Kingsport TN as this cute little 2 or close to 2 year old full of energy toddler. Your family meant a lot to our church and will always remember you all and I will always remember David as that cute little boy. You All are in our prayers and thoughts. I would like to express my condolences to all the family and share a verse that touched my heart and hope it does the same to all those who loved David.
The verse reads: "Thy dead live,their bodies will rise again. They that sleep in the earth will awake and shout with joy; for thy dew is a dew of sparkling light and the earth will bring those long dead to birth again."
I love this verse because it proves that one day, one day we will be reunited with our loved ones and the pain will stop.

We extend our love and deepest sympathies to Rev. Massie and his entire family. We did not know David but we know his father for his service to our congregation. As a member of Mt Pleasant Presbyterian we feel the family's loss of this wonderful "full of life" young man. His passing is a mystery only the Peace of Christ can help us understand. Know that we are with you in this most difficult of times.

I have David Massie to thank for introducing me to my first love, life in the kitchen. I will forever be grateful to him for that. An amazing person from an amazing family. Anyone who ever met Dave knew how special he was. He was one of a kind. Love you Dave.

John and I did not know David, but I wished we did. His life was exciting filled with the spirit of joy and the love of living. Tears fall from all our eyes at this time and our love and prayers flow out to all of you. I can see David now a mixture of two great parents who have touched the Mosher family with their care, love and especially laughter. I know that we could recognize Tita and Danny in David - this beautiful young man. We wish we could be there with your friends and family, therefore tomorrow we will set aside a few moments to remember what God has given both the Massie family and the Mosher family. Danny, Tita, Vaughn, Marie, and Natalie:

My Mom and Dad (Peggy and Garland Russell), and Marlene Jordan have been keeping me abreast of David's accident and your family's struggles. I didn't know David, but I have nothing but warm, loving memories of you -- Dan and Tita -- and of babysitting young Vaughn and Marie in Norfolk. I particularly remember all of us speculating that Vaughn would become a doctor when he performed his first surgery on Marie's earlobe with a pair of scissors (I wasn't on duty then, was I?)

Tita: I still make your Scottish shortbread recipe from the Third Pres cookbook at least twice a year.

All of our family are organ donors, but we are humbled, renewed and inspired by David's will to improve the lives of people he never met -- and by your own bravery in putting his plan into action. We cannot image how impossibly sad, frustrating and hard it is to lose such an accomplished, adventurous, curious and loving child, brother and uncle.

Please know that there are people all over the world -- like me here in Washington, DC -- who are thinking of you all with deep love, respect, tenderness, and hope for your peace and sense of well-being.

Forevermore, I will think of your close, wonderful family whenever I make that shortbread.

My son, Mark Fontenot, lives in Crested Butte, CO & knew David. Mark said that just knowing David made Mark a better person. I pray for you his family because most certainly this fine boy's soul now resides with God.

My heart goes out to all of you at this time and know that I will continue to lift you up in my thoughts and prayers. I remember David so vividly at First Presbyterian Church, Kingsport, TN. I was hired by Danny and Robbie Brunson to be the Chruch Receptionist and David would drop by after school to ride his skateboard around the church and always in need of a soft drink or a ride home. Robbie and I took turns taking care of him. Thank you for the opportunity to share these memories.

My deepest sympathy to you, Danny, and your family over the loss of your son David. Although I know its no consolation to you, his name was brought up at lunch at the Carolina Yacht Club yesterday all comments were most favorable as well as admiring him as a person as well as his and your family's choice to donate his organs so that others can live. My thoughts and prayers go out to you during this time of bereavement. Under separate cover I have forwarded a small memorial to your old church. Please let me know if I can do anything for you or your family.

I only met David one time, but his positive and humorous presence left a lasting impression. I remember his smile and his laugh. His life has definitely been a lasting gift to all. Praying for his loved ones left behind and those he's blessed with his organs.

David helped me when Wyatt was a baby taking swim lessons. David held Wyatt in the pool because Wyatt was so active. David was in High School at the time, and I thought he was such a kind soul, so humble, so giving for being so young. It sounds like he was a very sincere person throughout his life. The Hay family are so sad to hear this news. We will be praying for all the Massie family.
