David went on to become an electrician and was a proud member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, Local #5 of Pittsburgh for 40 years. He also served in the National Guard.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Laura Carr; and his nephew, Jeff Carr.
David is survived by his beloved wife of 51 years, Darlene (Jerko) McNeil; his children, Bryan (Amanda) McNeil of Suquamish, Washington, and Heather (Zach Lau) McNeil of Pittsburgh; his cherished grandchildren, Fiona and Colin McNeil; his sisters, Margaret A. McNeil of Pittsburgh and Susan Widiziunas (Stan) of New Kensington; and his brother-in-law, Peter Carr of Ridgway.
Friends and family are invited to visitation on Tuesday, Dec. 30, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at McCabe–Roof Funeral Home, 565 Franklin St., Clymer, PA 15728. Deepest sympathies from all of us in the PHS Class of 69. Thornton, as we called him, was such a nice guy. Always smiling, always friendly and usually with his Big Run boys. He will be greatly missed. Jeff and Jackie Lundy

Darlene and kids, so very sorry for your loss. My husband,Larry, always told me what a good person Dave was and how kind his family was when they were kids together. Grief hurts so much. The blessing was having him in your life. With many thoughts and prayers.
