David Meek Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Woodley Funeral Home - Greene on Nov. 8, 2025.
David Meek, 88, of Marble Rock, died Friday, November 7, 2025, at MercyOne-North Iowa in Mason City. Woodley Funeral Home and Crematory, Greene is caring for David and his family. Funeral services will be held 10:30 am, Monday, November 17, 2025, at Roseville Catholic Church, with burial to follow at Roseville Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be 4:00 - 6:00 pm, Sunday, November 16, at the church hall.
Our hearts are saddened as we share that our husband, dad, and grandpa, great grandpa, Dave, passed away peacefully on November 7th, 2025, surrounded by family.
David was born on the family farm February 1st, 1937, in Marble Rock, Iowa where he lived his entire life. He attended St. Mary's Roseville Catholic School and then Marble Rock High School where he played baseball and basketball, graduating in 1954.
He married Rose Mary Vohsman on September 9, 1967, at St. Michael's Catholic Church, Nashua, IA. They were married for 58 years and had four children.
Dave was the heart of our family, steady, loving, and always there when we needed him. He had a way of making everyone feel special. Whether it was a story that you had heard a 100 times about hunting, stories about his childhood and growing up on the family farm, or one of his famous wide-eyed looks, Dave made you feel loved. He found joy in the simple things, working in the garden, fishing at his favorite spots, hunting in the Big Woods, tinkering around the farm, and playing ball in the yard.
He was the kind of man who showed up for everything: games, recitals, projects, and as a dad and grandpa, he was a pure blessing: patient, funny, and endlessly proud of his children and grandkids.
Dave leaves behind his wife of 58 years, Rose; his children Marcia (George) Carroll of Marble Rock, Michele (Jay) Quick of Ankeny, and Allen Meek(Laura Berlanga)of Boulder, CO.; his grandchildren- Jeff, Emily(Tyler), Chelsea, Ella, Kayla, Elsie, Katie, Zach, Gabbie, Jacob, Nate, Alex, Silas, Summer, great grandchildren-James, Hallie, Hudson; and so many friends and relatives who will miss him dearly. He was welcomed into heaven by his son Andrew, his parents George and Ella Meek, his 12 brothers and sisters,
as well as relatives and friends.
A celebration of his life will be held on November 16th for visitation with family from 4-6pm and a funeral service November 17th at 10:30 at St Mary's Catholic Church, Roseville, IA. We'll gather to share stories, laughter, love, and card games, just how Dave would want it.
We'll miss his voice, his hugs, and his steady presence, but his love will always be with us. As Dave would say, "Take it easy!"

I'm so glad we had the reunion in September! I sat beside Uncle Dave as he kicked our butts at 500, not just once, but twice! You will be missed!
Love to all the family! Pam
