I was one of Mr. Messner's students from DeWitt. Four years in journalism, history and kept stats for the varsity baseball team which he coached. He shared so much knowledge with everyone. He trusted the individual and gave you great latitude, until you broke his trust. I think of him every time I see a license plate with DZM on it. Strange, I know.
My condolences to Robyn and the extended family. Losses in life aren't easy, but now he's with all of you, all the time.

Lunch duty! Dr. Messner was my wisest and oldest friend. He poured so much knowledge, empathy, learning, and intention into our talks. He mentored me as a young leader, and was the one who pushed me out of my classroom comfort zone to tackle school leadership. Whenever we attended luncheons or banquets for school, he always saved me his dessert (he didn't eat sweets). He gave me 2 pieces of advice I'll never forget and always share: Always have a 5 year plan, and do not be afraid to leave your comfort zone. I haven't gone wrong when I remember those two morsels. Smile down on us Dave! You were one of my favorite humans.

Dave and I have been friends since little league baseball and all throughout high school. We reconnected on Facebook really enjoyed his Meditation Minutes. This photo shows Dave and I on our baseball team. I´m standing next to Dave on his right.
He will truly be missed.

I always enjoyed talking to Dave when we had Elston High School Reunions. He was a fun classmate and I will always have fond memories of him. Blessings and Prayers to Robyn, and the family. I understand the lose, since my husband passed on June 25th of this year. You have lots of memories Robyn and they will comfort you with your family in the future to come. Love from a classmate!!
