David S. Messner

I have fond memories of both David and Margaret from our days at the University of Virginia in the 1960s and our activity in the Young Democrats. We tried to interest David in running for Congress on a hopeless--but morally worthy--peace platform in the days of the Vietnam War. Here to share is a photo of one of their guests, six-time presidential candidate Norman Thomas with several Young Democrats in 1964 as he spoke at UVa and we celebrated his 80th birthday. I still go by the Messner house at 1500 Virginia Avenue every time I visit Charlottesville.
