David J. Michalik

Michalik, David J. Age 69 April 17, 2016. Died after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born in Detroit August 23, 1946, the son of Wanda and John Michalik. He was a 1968 graduate of the University of Detroit. He retired fron the City of Detroit after 30 years where he was employed as a Senior Government Analyst for the Department of Public Works. He was an active member in his beloved Transfiguration Parish, which later became a part of Saint John Paul II Parish in Detroit. David was a frequent visitor at the Capuchin Monastery in Detroit, and he was a Life Member in the Father Solanus Guild. He is survived by his sisters Janice(David)Smith and Mary Ellen(Timothy)Kirwan. He will be fondly remembered by his nephew Andrew Kirwan, Nieces, Laura(Todd)Marcy, Karen(Paul)Vavrick, Mary Ellen Smith, Erica Kirwan and Katherine Kirwan, great nephews Ethan, Dylan, and Parker Vavrick and great nieces Autumn Vavrick, Jolene and Sarah Marcy. Visitation Tuesday 4-9pm with a 7pm Scripture Service at Wujek-Calcaterra & Sons, Inc. 54880 Van Dyke Ave. at 25 Mile Rd. Funeral Wednesday Instate 10:30am at Transfiguration Catholic Church 5830 Simon St., (Detroit West of Mound South of E. McNichols) until time of Mass at 11am.
