David Jerome Mickelson was born February 13, 1944 in Starbuck, Minnesota to Herbert
and Jeanette (Matejka) Mickelson.
David graduated from Cyrus High School in 1962 and then attended Wilmar Technical
College in Wilmar, Minnesota. David married the love of his life, Ruth Ellen Anderson,
on July 3, 1965, at Lands Lutheran Church, in Hoffman, Minnesota. To this union they
were blessed with five children. They celebrated sixty years together in July. David
worked as an auto mechanic in Minnesota until the Lord called him to serve in full time
ministry. He trained for ministry at RHEMA Bible Training College in Broken Arrow,
Oklahoma from 1978-1980.
For 43 years, David and his lifetime helpmate, Ruth, touched the USA as well as many
nations of the world with the Good News. After completing his ministerial training, they
moved to North Dakota where they pioneered a church and led this congregation for 13
years. They served as missionaries in Vladimir, Russia for 4 years where they planted a
church that is still thriving today. They returned to the USA, and in 1999, assumed the
pastorate of Victory Christian Church in Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin where they
pastored until retirement in 2022. David and Ruth moved to the Ozarks in August 2022
from Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin. Their ministry to the nations included multiple
missions trips to Mexico, Guatemala, Belize, Jamica, Peru, Russia, and Botswana.
David was a man who never met a stranger, loved to travel, preach, and was ever
tinkering and fixing things. One of his favorite pastimes was fishing. He and Ruth
enjoyed fishing together.
He was preceded in death by his parents Herbert and Jeanette Mickelson, and his
grandson Jeremiah James Gyuricza.
David is survived by his loving wife Ruth Ellen Mickelson, two daughters: Kristin Buckley
(Matthew) of Francistown, Botswana, Africa, Andrea Gyuricza of Lakeville, Minnesota
and three sons: Steven Mickelson of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Jonathan Mickelson (Montye) of
Kissee Mills, Missouri, Joshua Mickelson (Celeste) of Windsor, Colorado, ten
grandchildren, eight great grandchildren; two sisters, Carmen Lundebrek (Floyd) of
Lowry, Minnesota and Louise Jaeger (Jesse) of Stewart, Minnesota, and one brother,
Russell Mickelson (June) of Andover, Minnesota.
"His lord said to him, Well done, good and faithful servant; you have been faithful ...
Enter into the joy of your Lord." Matthew 25:23
