David Moffatt

David Evans Moffat, 74, passed away unexpectedly on January 28, 2026. He was the son of the late Robert Wells Moffat and Miriam Evans Jones Moffat and was born in Salt Lake City, Utah.

David spent his formative years in Florence and Greenville, South Carolina, and graduated from McClenaghan High School in Florence. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from the University of South Carolina, where he was a member of the Kappa Sigma Fraternity.

Following graduation, David enjoyed a long and successful career as a commercial real estate broker throughout the Southeast before retiring.

David is survived by his wife of 38 years, Bonnibel Glasgow Moffat of Columbia; his son, Dr. David Douglas Moffat II (Allyson) of Columbia; his daughter, Evans Smith (David) of Charleston; and his grandchildren, Wells, Taite, and Duncan Moffat of Columbia. He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Helen Selser and his niece, Eva Gordon Moffat, of Atlanta, GA; and many cousins in Florence.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Robert Douglas Moffat.

A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, February 3, 2026, at 10:30 am at Trenholm Road United Methodist Church, 3401 Trenholm Road, Columbia, SC. Visitation in the Church Parlor following the service.

Memorials may be made to Trenholm Road United Methodist Church or Epworth Children's Home.
