David Mongon

David Mongon of Enfield, CT passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday Nov 25, 2020. Thanksgiving morning. David was born on November 6, 1943, he was the son to the late George Hays Mongon and Helen (Reber) Mongon. David is a lifelong resident of Enfield. David was an Army Veteran and later graduated from St Francis College. Many jobs through the years however his passion was teaching Special Education in the Hartford School System. He was an Umpire for many years and loved watching and playing baseball. When David retired from teaching you could still find him from time to time watching students play ball or substitute teaching in Enfield and Suffield. He would get a kick out of going to Suffield Schools and seeing his "step"- grandchildren Pauly and Samantha as he loved keeping an eye on them. David loved going to church on Sundays you would see him most Sundays at Enfield Congregational Church greeting you with a smile. He had such a love for life, enjoyed golfing and visiting his place in Hilton Head. David is survived by his loving companion, Gertrude Pellrine, and their pride and joy dog Eva as well as Gertrude's family Rachael and Paul Motta from Suffield, CT and their children Samantha and Pauly Motta. Patrick and Jeanine Caron from Fitchburg, MA and their children Austin, Devin and Chase. At gatherings when David would say grace, he always said the one thing he was so blessed for was that he finally had a family he never had, being the only child. He definitely appreciated all God had given him and made sure everyone he loved knew they were loved. A private service will be held for family only.
