David Moore Obituary

Publish in a newspaper

David Clell Moore, 83, passed away on November 5, 2025, in Springfield, Missouri. Born on August 5, 1942, in Ottumwa, Iowa, David lived a life marked by creativity, service, and deep connections with family and community.
David graduated from Iowa City High School in Iowa City, Iowa, and continued his education at the State University of Iowa. His early years were rooted in Iowa City, where he began building a career that reflected his passion for design and visual storytelling. He worked at a home design firm in Iowa before moving to Mansfield, Missouri, where he pursued his love of photography by opening his own studio-Wedding World/World Photography. Through his lens, David captured countless cherished moments for families and couples across the region.
In 1972, David relocated from Iowa City to continue expanding his professional pursuits. In 2010, he and his wife made their home in Springfield, Missouri. There, he remained active in both personal and professional circles until his passing.
From 1966 to 1968, David proudly served in the United States Army as part of the 1st Cavalry Division. He spent one year stationed in Vietnam and was honored to participate in an Honor Flight in August of 2023-a meaningful recognition of his service.
David was a man of many talents and interests. He had a natural gift for designing and constructing anything he set his mind to. Whether it was working on a new project or tending to his garden, he found joy in creating and nurturing. He loved fishing and was an enthusiastic member of the Tri-County Bass Anglers. Sundays often found him cheering on the Kansas City Chiefs or grilling on his beloved Green Egg for family gatherings. He also enjoyed playing games with loved ones and never missed a chance to share laughter around the table.
Known for never meeting a stranger and always being ready to lend a hand, David brought warmth wherever he went. Every Monday morning without fail, he met with friends to discuss-and attempt to solve-the world's problems over coffee and conversation.
He was actively involved in several organizations that reflected his passions: the Professional Photographers of the Ozarks and the Springfield Water Garden Society among them.
David is survived by his devoted wife, Mildred (Schwab) Moore; two sons, Shaun Moore and Darrin Moore; and six sisters: Linda (Jim) Inks, Mary (Arley) Jackson, Jennifer (Dick) Miller, Debra (Gary) Applegate, Tonya (Lynn) Lovetinsky, and Connie Bortz.
He was preceded in passing by his parents, W.C. Moore and Dorothy Blanche (Mocha); his brother Jerry Moore; and his grandparents.
May David's memory bring comfort to those who knew him and inspiration to all who remember his generous spirit.
A visitation will be held on November 17, 2025, from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM at Walnut Lawn Funeral Home 2001 West Walnut Lawn Street, Springfield, Missouri. A funeral service will follow at 11:30 AM with a WWR Final Salute - 12:15 PM
WWR will escort David to MO Veterans Cemetery, 5201 S Southwood Road, Springfield, Missouri, where full military honors will be rendered and he will be laid to rest.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in David's memory to the Warriors Watch Riders (WWR), through Walnut Lawn Funeral Home.
Care and arrangements have been entrusted to Walnut Lawn Funeral Home, Ltd. – DeGraffenreid-Wood Crematory, Springfield, Missouri.
