This world lost a kind, intelligent man and dedicated craftsman when David Paul Moskal, of Burgettstown, passed away, surrounded by his family, on Sunday, July 9, 2023, after a 13-month, unfair fight against cancer.
He was born on March 21, 1960, to Edward "Mutch" Moskal and Mary Ellen Frame Moskal of Meadowlands. He was a 1978 graduate of Chartiers-Houston High School.
Dave's career of woodworking began at Woodcraft in Atlasburg, continued through 35 years with Lorenzi Lumber, and finished as a Project Manager for Renewal by Andersen. He left a lasting impression on colleagues who often became his friends.
He had always been a maker and creator, putsying with tools and materials since childhood. One of his first motorized creations was a go-cart made from a lawnmower engine and spare parts. Like his dad, Mutch, he shared the love of working with his hands, always designing and building a wide range of pieces layered with meaning and often for loved ones and friends. Dave never hesitated to help family and friends with projects big and small.
Spending time with his family was a priority. Together they often went camping, biking, skiing, ice skating and hiking. Dave enjoyed sharing his appreciation and knowledge of the craftsmanship and skill on display at NHRA drag races and airshows. He was an avid Penguins fan, becoming a season ticket holder with his brother, Bob, in 1978 and continuing through the years with his son, Luke, and other family members.
Left behind to mourn him are his loving wife, Claudia Grossi Moskal; his children, Kaleena Deah (Craig) of Allison Park, Brianna Moskal (Mark Jovanovich) of Wilkinsburg and Luke Moskal (Emily Breedlove) of Spring Hill; his step-children, Erica Couch of Oakdale and Brennan Couch of Burgettstown; his brothers, James (Diana) of Austin, Texas and Robert (Debbie) of Houston; and his two much-loved grandchildren, Adam and Claire Deah.
Preceding him in death are his parents, Mutch and Mary; and his best friend, his Bernese Mountain Dog, Maximus.
A gathering to celebrate Dave's life will be held from 2 to 8 p.m. on Saturday, July 15th, at Slater Funeral & Cremation Services of Burgettstown, 73 Highland Avenue, Burgettstown.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital at www.stjude.org, a charity that Dave supported for decades.

David always talked about his love of wood working and his love for his family. I'll always remember the knowledge he shared with me during our time together at RBA. He will be missed.
