David Garver Mounts, 89, of Evansville, passed away on Tuesday, July 1, 2025, at Solarbron Terrace.
David was born on September 29, 1935, in Owensville, Indiana to the late William Robert and Dorothy (Garver) Mounts. He was a 1953 graduate of Cynthiana High School. Following his high school graduation, David joined the United States Army, serving in Korea and earned the National Defense Medal for his outstanding service. Upon his return home, David attended Indiana University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting and played football for four years and baseball during his senior year. David was an avid sports fan. He played Double I League baseball for St. Wendel and was an IHSAA official in both football and basketball. He had the honor of being selected to officiate five high school football state championship games during his time as an official.
David owned and operated Mounts Electric for over 45 years beginning in 1976 and also owned Evansville Outdoor Advertising for over 20 years.
Surviving David are three sons, Ron Mounts, Stephen (Pamela) Mounts and Brian (Bethany) Mounts; grandchildren, Ethan Mounts, Camden (Caroline) Mounts, Burke Mounts, Joel Mounts and Gus Mounts; a sister-in-law, Dolores Mounts, as well as fourteen nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, David was preceded in death by his wife Marilyn in 2024 and by six siblings, Robert Mounts, Kenneth Mounts, Richard Mounts, Connie Lockyear, Bonnie Elpers and Greta Mounts.
Graveside services with military rites conducted by the Vanderburgh County Retired Veterans Memorial Club will take place on Friday, July 11, 2025, at 1:00 PM at Memorial Park Cemetery, 2200 Mesker Park Drive. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Southern Indiana Officials Association, 8313 Edinborough Road, Evansville, IN 47725 or to Stewart Home and School, where David's eldest son resides, 4200 Lawrenceburg Road, Frankfort, KY 40601.
