David Neumeister Obituary

David Ray Neumeister, 86, of Walton,  unexpectedly passed away in Florence, Ky on Friday, March 28th. He was born on April 13 1938, to parents, Joseph and Era Lucittie (Boswell) Neumeister who proceeded him in death. Lucittie’s family was from Hope, Arkansas where he loved traveling to see family. A life long member of Walton Baptist Church, his faith was at the centerpoint of his life, as was the fact that he was an exceptionally hard worker and strong provider for his family, retiring from Signode after 32 years. He enjoyed traveling, seeing most of the U.S., Europe and Canada. He took pleasure in the thrill of a NASCAR and Indy car race and the relaxing melody of bluegrass and gospel music. He was passionately frugal - often going to entertaining lengths to save a dollar, a wise and iconic trait that we will all remember him by.

He was an avid farmer and Farmall tractor enthusiast owning and restoring several classic tractors and was fond of tractor shows and plow days. His dad, Joseph, farmed with work horses but David was thrilled to transition to the tractor - finding the tractor to be an improvement as a more strong and steady constant.

This aligned well with his own attributes as, especially since retirement, he was a strong and steady constant for his family. In hay, fencing, tobacco or wood cutting; sun beaming down, in the rain and mud or the bitter snow, he was there. When grand kids got off the bus, needed to be picked up sick, had a basketball game, a livestock or horse show, truck pull, graduation, birthday or wedding, he was there. If you wanted to talk about theology or politics or just wanted to vent about the cares of the world, he was there. His stoic demeanor softened a little more with each grand and great grand child - but nothing surpassed his adoration for the love of his life - the beautiful Mary Elizabeth Neumeister whom he cherished with all his heart for 66 years of marriage until her passing less than one year ago. They were married at 16 and 19. He has yearned for her each and every day since her passing and our greatest solace is the thought of their reunification.

Surviving are his children: Carl (Karen) Neumeister, Beverly Jean (Otis Wendell) Brown, Rita (the late Allen (AJ)) Jones and Roger (Alice) Neumeister. His grandchildren: Dawn (Nathan) Fay, Adam Moore, Derek (Laura) Brown, Casey Jones , Sara Beth (Ryan) Marshall, Traci (Russell) Richardson and Jamie (Jordon) Lainhart and his great grandchildren: Allie (Nathan) Akins, Natalie(Noah) Leardon, Simon, Valarie, Lucy and Joel Fay, Beckham and Hadley Brown, Raelyn and Brooklyn Jones, McKinley, River, Willow, and Era Mary Butcher, Hunter, Caleb, Joanna and Lydia Marshall, Bentley and Shiloh Richardson and Tripp, Jenson and Grady Lainhart.

A funeral service will be held 1 PM, Wednesday, April 2, 2025 at Floral Hills Funeral Home, located at 5336 Old Taylor Mill Road, Covington, KY 41015. Visitation will be from 11-1 PM with the funeral service beginning at 1 PM and the graveside service immediately following at the Independence cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Miniature Buddies, Inc (non profit).

As mentioned, he was passionate about restoring classic tractors. We know that, in glory, a true classic has been restored.
