Age 58 of Wilmington, Illinois, formerly of Morris, Illinois, died Thursday, February 6, 2025 at the Lightways Hospice Home in Joliet, Illinois.
Born April 27, 1966 in Oak Lawn, Illinois, David John is a son of Donald and Patricia (Shigley) Newman. He was raised in the Chicagoland Area and graduated from Reavis High School with the Class of 1984. David went into the trades and spent over twenty five years as a union electrician, proudly serving as a member of the IBEW Local 134.
He loved spending his free time outdoors, being an avid fisherman it was a dream of his to live on the water, and he achieved that goal by moving to Shadow Lakes in Wilmington. David was also a die hard Chicago Bears and Notre Dame Fighting Irish football fan. He was a gifted craftsman, devoting his time to woodworking and being an all around handyman. David had a great sense of humor and was often the life of the party, sharing many great times with his family and friends. His family is what brought him the most joy in life, treasuring his children whom he loved dearly. David was a proud father and grandfather who will be remembered lovingly by those who loved and knew him
Survivors include his parents: Donald and Patricia Newman of Florida, three children: Christine Mendez (Jeremy Herbster) of Morris, Illinois, Brooke (Benjamin) Vowels of Channahon, Illinois, and David B. Newman (Bailey Maurer) of Oak Forest, Illinois; one granddaughter: Kaylah Meyers; one sister, Dorothy Erickson of Florida, and three brothers: Donald (Vicky) Newman of Burbank, Illinois, Bruce (Eileen) Newman of Palos Hills, Illinois, and William Newman of Florida; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Per David's wishes, cremation rites were accorded.
The family will receive friends for a memorial visitation at Reeves Funeral Home, 408 East Washington Street, in Morris on Saturday, May 3, 2025 from 11:00 AM until the time of memorial services at 2:00 PM
Family and friends are encouraged to sign the online guest book, upload photographs, and share David's obituary via social media.
Cremation services and memorial arrangements are being made under the direction and care of Reeves, Fruland, & Baskerville Funeral Homes and Crematory in Morris (815) 942-2500.
