David Eric Nikles, age 64, of Hanford, California, passed away on March 26, 2025. Born on September 12, 1960, in Toms River, New Jersey. David led a life marked by service, adventure, and devotion to family and community.
David proudly served in the U.S. Navy from 1984 until his retirement in 2010. During his distinguished career, he was awarded numerous military honors, medals, and ribbons, recognizing his dedication and bravery during multiple deployments. His naval service exemplified his commitment to his country and his fellow servicemen and women.
Outside of his military career, David was an accomplished Olympic swimmer, which showcased his passion for excellence and discipline. He also had a love for adventure; often found riding his motorcycle, embracing the freedom of the open road. His enthusiasm for motorsports was evident as he took on the role of crew chief for the #7 Mini Stock car at Langley Speedway, where he shared his love for racing with those around him.
David cherished the moments spent talking with his three grandsons, Finnley, Jasper, and Declan. Their births were among his most joyous experiences, and he took immense pride in being a grandfather.
In his community, David was an active member of the Elks Lodge and the Fleet Reserve, where he built lasting friendships and contributed to the well-being of others. His presence and leadership were valued and will be missed by all who knew him.
David was predeceased by his beloved wife, Judie Nikles. Together, they shared a life full of love that will be remembered by all who knew them. He is survived by his son, Dwight, his daughter in law, and their three boys.
As we remember David, we bid him farewell with the heartfelt wish: "As you sail into the sunset of life, I wish you fair winds and following seas." His memory will be cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
