David Robert Nitzsche, 78, of Kent, passed away on Sunday, January 18, 2026 in the comfort of his home. He was born in Akron on October 22, 1947 to the late Delfred and Myrtle Nitzsche.
David was employed as an operating engineer with Local #18. He was an avid golfer, a motorcycle enthusiast, a professional breakfast connoisseur and trusted servant to his fellows. He will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved him.
In addition to his parents, David was preceded in death by his wife Mary Nitzche; stepson Tim Lear; brother Tom Nitzsche and sister Carol Beitenman.
He is survived by his daughter Shannon (Luke) Graber; son Kirk Nitzsche; stepdaughters, Amy Pablo and Jen (Dean) Sloane; grandchildren, Matilda, Amaya and Alexa Pablo, Porter and Paige Sloane, Cash and Presley Nitzsche; siblings, Sue Parkhill, Jack Nitzsche, Jim (Debbie) Nitzsche and Mary Ann (Richard) Boatner.
Visitation will be Saturday, January 24, 2026 from 9:00-11:00AM at Bissler & Sons Funeral Home and Crematory, 628 W. Main St. Kent, OH 44240 followed by a memorial service at 11:00AM. A reception, for family and friends, will take place, following the service, at The Paradise Club, 1710 Front St. Cuyahoga Falls, OH 44221.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made, in his name, to Akron Area Intergroup at www.akronaa.org or to IBH Addiction Recovery at www.ibh.org.
