David Ortiz Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by F. Ruggiero & Sons, Inc. Funeral Home & Cremation Services - Yonkers on Jan. 7, 2026.
David Ortiz was more than a brother and son-he was a friend and helped care for our Mom when he could, and his sudden passing on New Year's Day 2026 has left us devastated. David died peacefully in his sleep from a heart attack, and while we all lived our busy lives, we will miss him terribly.
He had a beautiful smile, a sharp wit, and a brilliant mind. David loved reading about medicine and built an impressive library of medical books. He was always informed on many topics and loved to debate anyone willing to engage with him. David attended Bronx Community College and graduated with an Associates Degree and worked as a College Lab Technician at Bronx Community College for over 35 years. His coworkers considered him family, and many others called him their best friend. He was loved by many and will be missed by all.
The family will be present on Monday, January 12th, 2026 from 4-8 PM at Ruggiero & Sons, Inc. Funeral Home & Cremation Services - 732 Yonkers Avenue - Yonkers, New York 10704 (914) 375-1400 www.FRSWFH.com. A Funeral Service will take place at 11 AM on Tuesday, January 13th, 2025 at Ruggiero & Sons, Inc. Funeral Home & Cremation Services - 732 Yonkers Avenue - Yonkers, NY 10704 (914) 375-1400. Following the services, David will be laid to rest at Woodlawn Cemetery - East 233rd Street & Webster Avenue- Bronx, New York 10704.

The Ñahuis Family

January 13, 2026

David was a smart and funny guy. My family is heartbroken hearing the news. He made a big difference in the lives of others and will leave that legacy behind. My condolences to the family and my godfather Leslie, whom introduced us to his bestfriend Dave. He became a dear friend of ours. May he rest in eternal peace May God bless him and his family. - The Ñahuis Family (Irina, Cesar, Steven, Lulu)
