David Gerald Ouellette was born August 26, 1936, in Duluth, MN, to Arthur and Pauline (Green) Ouellette. He graduated from high school in Duluth and entered the US Navy in June of 1955.
During David’s long career with the US Navy, he was stationed in Jacksonville, FL, Memphis, TN, Pensacola, FL, Spain, Japan, Puerto Rico, and San Diego, CA. He served as an airplane mechanic for the many type of Navy aircraft over the years.
David married Loretta Martin on July 15, 1961, in Wilton, ND. Following his retirement from the Navy in June of 1975, he worked for the US Postal Service in San Diego. They moved to Moorhead, MN, in 2001.
David died Saturday, September 23, 2023, in Sanford Health, Fargo, ND, at eighty-seven years of age.
He is survived by his wife, Loretta; children, David (Denise) Ouellette, California, Danny Ouellette, Minnesota, Suzanne (Mark) Sheffield, Mississippi, James (Kim) Ouellette, California, and Laurie (Stephen) Ward, Florida; eleven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Charles.
Visitation will be Wednesday, September 27, 2023, from 10 – 11 AM, with a funeral service at 11 AM, in Korsmo Funeral and Cremation Service, Moorhead. Burial, with full military honors will be at Fargo National Cemetery, Harwood, ND, at 1 PM.
