We mourn the loss of David Pierce Peterson, who passed away on June 9, 2025 at 77 years of age. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, & friend and will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Born on October 27, 1947, David lived a full life with family and friends. After graduation, he served his country in atomic demolition munitions during the Vietnam War and was stationed in Germany. After returning, he dedicated his career to the phone company, beginning as a lineman with Southwestern Bell and moving to large phone systems with AT&T. In addition to his professional achievements, David was known for his ability and willingness to help anyone with projects of all sorts. He loved working on cars, tractors, and anything mechanical. He also enjoyed projects at home and was always available to help anyone in need. He was a volunteer with Boy Scouts and loved to educate everyone on the socially significant music of his time.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Barbara (Wright) Peterson of Gardner, KS, Daughter Amy (David) Diaz of McKinney, Texas, Daughter Mary (Donald) Culross of Gardner, KS, Son Joseph (Hilleary) Peterson of Marceline, MO, Grandchildren Pierce & Isabella Culross, Rosalyn & David Peterson, sisters Lana (Bill) Hottel of Liberty, MO, & Susan Head of Marceline, MO, many nieces, nephews, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and daughter Sarah Ann.
