David S. Phillabaum Sr.

1967 - 2022

David Scott Phillabaum Sr., 54, of Greensburg, whose journey began July 16, 1967, passed away Wednesday, July 6, 2022, surrounded by his family after a long and mighty battle with cancer. David was preceded in death by his father, Gerald Phillabaum; his mother, Karen McPhail; his sister, Wendy; his partner, Lisa; and both sets of grandparents. David always had a love for the outdoors, give him a fishing pole or a hunting rifle and he would happily be outside all day, he was never one to turn down a beer or ten, but only after 12 p.m. because he had standards. He said whatever he was thinking and was not afraid to crack a joke at his own or others expenses. Even at the end of his life, he was making us laugh. David was a simple guy, a man's man; he did things his way, he did not care what anyone thought about it and he would be the first to let you know. You could usually find him sitting out on his front porch watching the sunset and the deer grazing in his yard. If he was not there, then he would be in his house watching NASCAR or the Steelers games while yelling at the TV, or sitting around his bonfire with family and a cold beer while singing his favorite songs; we loved to hear him sing. He will always be remembered as the one who made us laugh, the one who always had a tall tale to tell, the protective one, the one who did the best he could with the hand he was dealt, and the one who always did things his way up until his very last breath. David leaves behind two children, Marlana and David Phillabaum Jr.; his sisters, Cheri (David) Uhlig, Ricki (Rick) Dechicchis and Heidi (Mark) Sterf. He is also survived by his grandson, Layne; as well as eight nieces and nephews; and 13 great-nieces and nephews, including his little sidekick, Bradley. Per David's request, no service will be held.
