David Earl Pitz, age 86, of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, passed away on December 29, 2025.
David was born on October 19, 1939, in Akron, Ohio, to the late James and Mildred (Cook) Pitz. He was a longtime resident of Cuyahoga Falls, a community he proudly served throughout much of his working life.
Dave retired from the City of Cuyahoga Falls Sanitation Department, where he dedicated many years of service. He also worked as a janitor for the Cuyahoga Falls School System, further contributing to the community he called home.
Dave proudly served his country in the United States Army Reserves, Artillery Unit, from 1957 to 1964.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Charlotte Pitz; his parents; and his siblings Robert Pitz, Mary Harkless, and Gerald Pitz.
David is survived by his loving sisters, Carol Dixon and Susan Scherer; his children Michelle (Greg) King, Joseph (Joyce) Pitz, Steven (Kim) Pitz, and Melany (Mark) Hermann; and his cherished grandchildren Albert King, Betsy (Matthew) Vance, Tara Heslin, Megan Pitz, Joseph (Marissa) Pitz, Kevin Pitz, Kelsey Pitz, Ashley Pitz, Jessica Hermann, and Abby Hermann. He is also survived by his great-grandchildren Bentley Graber, Adalynn Pitz, Emersyn Pitz, Samuel Vance, and Charlotte Vance.
Family and friends are invited to gather for visitation from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 6, 2026, at Clifford-Shoemaker Funeral Home, 1930 Front Street, Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio 44221.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 7, 2026, at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, 1905 Portage Trail, Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio 44223. Burial will immediately follow at Oakwood Cemetery.
