David R. Plas

David R. Plas, age 67, passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 6, 2025. He was born on January 8, 1958, in Elyria, Ohio to Robert and Marilyn (Reitz) Plas. A lifelong Elyria resident, David attended Elyria Catholic High School, graduating with the Class of 1976. He also attended Kent State University, earning his B.A., and worked as a Geologist. He retired from The Army Corps as an Engineer who worked on dams and other projects, and was a member of St. Jude's Church in Elyria.

David enjoyed cooking, playing guitar, and backpacking. Enjoying the outdoors, he would spend time camping, hunting, fishing, and creating plenty of fond memories at Kelley's Island. Above all, David loved being a husband, dad, grandpa, brother, and uncle. Coaching his kids in baseball, he was always so proud of them. Additionally, the whole family participated together in karate, and he was a devoted grandpa of his precious grandchildren.

Surrounded by family love, David was the beloved husband of Diane M. Plas (nee Seiling). Loving father of Alexander Plas (Courtney) of North Royalton, OH and Stephen Plas (Madison) of Pittsburgh, PA; dear grandfather of Jak and Blake. Loving brother of Debbie Vigg (Curt) of Strongsville, OH, Bruce Plas (Jennifer) of Seven Hills, OH, Gary Plas (Debbie) of Cape Coral, FL, Brenda Below (Scott) of Lorain, OH, and many nieces and nephews.

A memorial gathering will be held at the Busch Funeral Home, 114 Second Street, Elyria, OH on Wednesday, November 12, 2025, from 5-7pm, concluding with a service at 7pm. Father Charles Diedrich to officiate. (440) 322-3717 www.buschcares.com
