David Lee Plowman, 88, of Piedmont, MO, passed away Sunday, July 13, 2025, at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center in Poplar Bluff, MO. He was born in Kimball, NE, November 23, 1936, to Frederick Henry and Ruth Alegra (Neal) Plowman.
A devoted companion, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend, David lived a life marked by faith, service, and craftsmanship. He proudly served in the United States Marine Corps, where he learned the trade of electrician-a skill that became the foundation of his lifelong career. He went on to become a master electrician and was a proud member of Local 13 IBEW Engineers in Burlington, IA. David worked independently through the Union Hall, respected for both his technical skill and strong work ethic. David was married to Lillie (Brown) Plowman for over twenty years until her passing.
In the years that followed, he found lasting companionship with Janet Mann, his beloved partner of over seventeen years. Outside of work, David had a deep love for music, especially bluegrass, and could often be found attending bluegrass festivals with a joyful heart. He was also an avid and talented craftsman who enjoyed woodworking-making pendulum clocks, kitchen cutting boards, and cedar chests that reflected his attention to detail and love for his family. David was a man of deep faith and an active member of his church. His church family held a special place in his life, and he served joyfully and faithfully. But nothing meant more to David than time spent with those he loved-his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and extended family.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son: David Merrill Plowman; great-grandson: Adriann Doty; brother: Fred Plowman; sisters: Joan Denney, Dorothy Bell, and Ruth Marie Spilman.
David is survived by his companion, Janet of Piedmont, MO; daughters: Julie Stull and husband Dennis of Cedar Rapids, IA, and Alica Hincemon of Norfolk, VA; grandchildren: Lauren Wullner and husband Bobby, Ryan Stull and wife Carolynn, Abigail Kuntz and husband Cody, and Seth Williams; great-grandchildren: Elijah Doty, Maya Stull, Colby Hanson, Dean Stull, and Quint Kuntz; brother: Lynn Plowman and wife Barbara of Olathe, KS; sister: Patty Hill and husband David of Mt. Pleasant, IA; and many nieces, nephews, and friends who will miss him dearly. David Lee Plowman's legacy of love, hard work, and faith will live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know him.
Visitation will be held at 10:00 am, Wednesday, July 16, 2025, at Mill Spring Christian Church, Mill Spring, MO. Funeral service will follow at 11:00 am, also at Mill Spring Christian Church. Burial will be held at 1:00 pm, Thursday, July 17, 2025 in Leando Cemetery, Douds, IA. Online condolences can be made at www.rueggfuneralhomes.com
